More details and info below.
And it's the foundation of the Sporting Blue Valley Development pathway! Players from all over the area start at SBV Rec, and they get to experience soccer for the first time, hang out with friends, and decide if soccer is the sport for them.
It is our largest program and 4,000+ players compete in our league every Fall and Spring from ages 4-17 years old (PreK-12th grade!)
Most teams are originally formed by area schools – so that teammates on the field may also be friends at school.
PreK through 2nd grade teams play their games through our in-house Sporting BV league, and ALL games for those ages are played at SCHEELS OP Soccer Complex.
3rd grade through 12th grade play their games through the Heartland Soccer League, where they'll play against other non-Sporting BV teams. These games can be played at multiple locations around the Johnson County area.
Coaches pick their practices, and decide with the team what works best. Which means your practices will be at the SCHEELS OP Soccer Complex (Sporting BV HQ) or at a local school, most-often very close to or AT the school your player attends.
Since we try to group players by school, we're able to make this happen.
There are EIGHT games included in each registration (Fall & Spring are two separate registrations)
The upcoming 2025 Fall dates are:
August 23
September 6
September 20
September 27
September 28
October 11
October 18
October 25
We will schedule eight games with the intent to play seven. Games that are canceled will not be rescheduled.
Games for 3rd grade and older teams will be set by the Heartland Soccer League. Each team will be scheduled for eight games between August 8 and October 26.
Your practice and game times will be sent out as soon as the teams are finalized.
The placement process for Rec happens in three steps:
Registration opens, and all players register.
After the deadline closes we begin placing players on teams.
The system places players who played last season BACK on the same team as before. (Unless you request to transfer to another team.)
We fill in any open spaces on those teams with new players
We look through the list of requests and honor them as much as we can while keeping the teams as intact as possible.
Once ALL players have been placed, we will know how many teams we have an can start creating schedules and assigning schedules.
The general practice/game structure is:
ONE practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, OR Thursday.
Practices begin anywhere between 4pm and 6pm.
ONE (sometimes TWO) games on the weekends Saturday or Sunday.
Saturday games start as early at 8am and go until 12pm.
Sunday games start as early as 12:30pm and go until 5pm.
Your game could be anywhere within that window.
Sporting BV Rec is only $95.00 for each season, Fall and Rec.
The uniform is included for PreK-2nd grade players, uniforms for 3rd grade and older teams are organized by the coach.
The soft deadline to register for Fall is June 12th at 11:59pm. Any registrations after that will incur a $15 late fee and NO EXCEPTIONS are allowed to remove this fee.
The only thing your player NEEDS for this program is shin guards, which can be found at any local sporting goods store. Cleats are optional, but recommended.
The Sporting BV Recreational program doesn't have a limit on players, but we ARE limited on team space.
This means TWO things for you:
First, each grade level has a LIMIT on how many kids we can place on a team to ensure everyone gets enough playing time.
PreK and Kindergarten limit is 14 players.
1st Grade limit is 16 players.
2nd - 8th limit is 18 players.
Second, it means that our waiting lists are NOT dependent on our capacity, they're dependent on other players signing up.
For example, let's say you're a 1st grade player on a waiting list with 3 other players. We can't create a team with just 4 athletes, we need at LEAST 14 kids to create a 1st grade team, PLUS someone to volunteer to coach.
We can't form a team until a minimum of 10 other people join that waiting list, which might not happen before the season begins.
Which is why it's important to register as SOON as you can for SBV Rec.
All registration is done inside your Sporting Blue Valley account.
Click one of the buttons on this page, and it'll take you to our login page where you can put in your email username and your password, and then you'll see your dashboard.
On your dashboard, click "XX Available Programs" next to your player's name.
You'll see all the available programs for your player - select "2025 Fall Recreational Program" and select your player's grade level.
Once you've selected it, scroll to the bottom of the page and click "Skip" "Continue" or "Next Player" until it brings you to the next page where you can put in your player information.
Once you've put in your info, click "Continue" again and once you've paid on the next page, you're good to go!
(If you have problems selecting it on your phone, turn your phone sideways (landscape) and you'll see a blue button to select instead of just a program description)
Select "2025 Fall Recreational Program," then select your age group, and click Continue or Next Player until you see Continue at the bottom of the page.
This will take you to the registration questions, and after that you'll be able to select your payment plan or pay in full for the year.
All coaching for SBV Rec is volunteer-based, which means a parent of someone on your team will coach and manage the team for you.
We do this to keep costs low and the program laid-back.
All SBV Rec coaches must have completed their SafeSport certification and a background check.
We try our best to group kids who go to the same school, and often a player will tell his/her friends that their dad or mom is coaching a team, and the friends sign up...creating a MAJORITY "XYZ School" team...
But we don't have a "click for this school" kind of signup.
If you want to be with a specific coach or school, there is a box that says "Special Request/Comments" in the registration which is where you can put any coach or friend or school requests you have.
Please reach out to us as soon as the schedules are released if you realize the times don't work for you.
We'll do our best to accomodate you, but the general structure is:
ONE practice Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, OR Thursday.
Practices begin anywhere between 4pm and 6pm.
ONE (sometimes TWO) games on the weekends Saturday or Sunday.
Saturday games start as early at 8am and go until 12pm.
Sunday games start as early as 12:30pm and go until 5pm.
Your game could be anywhere within that window.
Sporting BV encourages multi-sport participation.
Our once-a-week practice schedule is designed to be manageable alongside other activities.
We believe that developing overall athleticism is important for young players, and it's one of the best way to meet new friends!
